Panorama: Immigration Undercover Opening sequence is of the documentary is a range of clips from the documentary with a narrative voiceover

r explaining the situation by stating a few facts about immigration. Cuts to a clip of immigration control at work capturing immigrants trying to get into the country, creating actuality to give the viewer a sense of being their, it visually illustrates the issues on the matter of immigration. Interview with a professional, Dave Garratt Chief Executive, Refugee Action. This interview along with many other short interviews with migrants and even the presenter are framed very well, following a few interview conventions like giving the subject looking room. Use of filler shots like the interviewee (migrants) is used to help break up talking heads. A good example of this is the migrant Kekenge walking around with a voiceover over the top. A fair use of hand held camera work is done when interviewing migrants on the street and when working undercover to help recreate the actuality. A good range of background music is used as well as the standard theme tune for Panorama during the opening sequence. The background music is rarely used and but when it is used it creates a mystique to break up silences and is also used behind the narrative. More filler shots have been used throughout, sometimes of just traffic moving around and also the use still images being used as fillers. Basic general shots, that helped to break up the documentary to visually entertain whilst the narrative informed. Throughout the documentary it continues to refer back to interviewees that they had interviewed previously. I feel this helped create a connection between the professionals and audience, as throughout the documentary they become a familiar face. There were also some uses of graphical animation to help illustrate some facts that the narration was going over.
