Pathophysiology Male child 4 months of age

Sex related demographics: Male infants have higher incidence of UTI than females in the first few months of life Specific s/sx: Frequent urination, Pain, Rashes in the body, Febrile episodes, Restlessness, Inconsolability, Poor feeding

Recurrent UTI: Bacterial proliferation in the urinary tract (ascending)

Leads to poor appetite of child Dehydration Less urinary output

Urinalysis taken With pus cells and slightly above normal electrolyte level Antibiotics prescribed: Infant did not manifest desired alleviation of symptoms

Minor surgery: Circumcision to treat recurrent UTI infections

Antibiotics were change for prophylaxis and treatment post surgery
