Page 1: Hi my name is Mill and my Thai endangered animal is Green Peafowl Page 2: Some of the common names that the Green Peafowl have are Green peafowl, Green- necked peafowl, and Java Peafowl. The Scientific Name is Pavo Muticus and the Thai name is Page 3: Appearance. The male peafowl is called a Peacock and it has green, long and colorful feathers on its back. The feathers on its head and neck are dark bluish green. It also has a white skin beneath its eyes. The wings are dark green and blue with pale brown feathers. The length of the Peacock is about 244 cm The female peafowl is called a Peahen and it has a shorter tail than the Peacock. Their bodies are brown and the neck is bluish- green. The length of it, is about 110 cm Page 4: Change over Times. During 1994 till 2008 it was Vulnerable but when it was 2009 it was endangered and also today. Page 5: Locations. Green Peafowls can be found in Indonesia, Cambodia, China, Myanmar, Thailand and Viet Nam. Page 6: Habitats. Green Peafowls live in places like in woodland, forest edge, a green land, farmland edge and bamboo. Page 7: Population. The Green Peafowl population is decreasing that means it is now, endangered. The Green Peafowl has already extinct in Malaysia, Bangladesh, India. Page 8: Main Risk & Threats. People hunt green peafowls because they want their skin and feathers to use to make clothes, things and accessories. People also keep collections of their eggs and chicks. Page 9: What are scientists doing to help? Scientist is helping by creating new protected areas and promoting strict enforcement of hunting. Also they are doing a breeding program.
