These installation instructions are for socket-mounted single-phase watthour meter (selfcontained Forms 1 S and 2S).
Dangerous voltages are present. Personal injury, death, or equipment damage can result if safety precautions are not followed. For Form 1S and 2S Meters 1. Make sure meter to be installed matches service type (form), current class, capacity required, and service socket. 2. Check socket and verify correct wiring. See Figure 1 for self-contained meters and Figure 2 for transformer-rated meters. 3. Remove paint, if any, from socket rim at point of contact with the meter lightning ar rester ground straps to ensure proper grounding. 4. Be sure voltage disconnect or test link on back of meter is closed, if installed. 5. Line up meter blades and socket jams and rock meter into place. Make sure meter is in upright position with rotor shaft vertical and free from vibration. 6. Make sure rotor disk turns from left-to-right when viewed from front. 7. Apply all seals and record necessary information.
WARNING
To determine the energy expended over a period of time, read the meter at the beginning of the period and again at the end. The difference in the readings is the consumption during the period.

All meters are calibrated and sealed before shipment. For proper installation, accuracy, and maximum life of the meters, use the following installation procedures.
Installation of a Form 2S meter used as a Form 1S, 120 volt, 2 wire meter
Example: A meter with a Kh of 7.2 makes 14 revolutions in 70 seconds. Load = 7.2 x 14 x 36005 = 184 watts = 5.184 kilowatts 70
