He was a professor of Arts from the University of Georgia, former President of the National Art Education Association and

author of; Varieties of Visual Experience. (And other works). Created the Feldman Method of Criticism for art education that includes; description, analysis, interpretation and judgment. This sequential process changed how art is critiqued in and outside the art classroom.

Advocated the importance of art education in schools. He believed art meant work, language and value. Thus instilling a value of work, understanding imagery, and opinions in the students.
