Psalm 19

Last week Robert gave the message.

The Lord is in control.

Dont be afraid.

For Jesus is with you.

It was a wonderful encouragement.

Tonight we can see that in this passage as well.

Tonight we will see 3 things.
1
That the creation reveals God.
2
The greatness of Gods word.
3
The depths of our unknown sin within and the Lords forgiveness.
1-6 1
Vs1-6: 1. Creation reveals God.

We live in a world which God created.

There is not a person here from space.

The Lord is the one who organised the beginning.

Each day has order. Morning to Noon. Noon to Evening.

It has order.

The Lord didn/t do it the opposite way {{{|}|||||||||||||||||

There is an order to the morning, noon, and evening.

What do they have?

Dusk and the morning light, the mid day sun, the moon and stars

It says in vs1 that the sky above proclaims his handiwork.

Okinawans nature is wonderful.

If you wake up early and go to the beach you can see the sun rise.

If you wait there it will turn into the Okinawan hot midday sun.

In the evening the sun sets at Tropical beach and it becomes evenin.g

And then the stars and moon appear. God faithfully has order.

If you go camping in northern Okinawa you will understand vs1-3 very well.

The Islands are even better!

Vs3 shows us that nature exists like a picture and that it reveals God. (Rom 1:20)

Vs4-6 are written about the sun.

In vs4, the sun sets on the sea, in vs5 the sun rises from the east.

In vs6 there isnt a person who is not hit by the suns rays.

There are none which escape its heat.

Dont you feel something when you look at nature?

Dont you feel the greatness of God when you look at the greatness and depth of the sea.

Dont you think how did God these things when you look at the mountains, moon and stars?

Dont you feel that?

We live in GOds creation.

Navi Bible says Nature reavels the existence of GOd, but the bible reveals GOds plan of
savlation to us. THis is what we see in vs7-11

Vs7-11 2. The greatness of GOds word

In vs7,8,9 Lord appears 6 times.

This is Hebrew word Yawheh.

This word means I am.

( 3,14)
In Exodus 3:14 God appears/reveals Himself to Moses.

The Greek word for Lord is Kurios.

This means ruler.

The disciples of Jesus called Him Lord.

In the Japanese OT the word LORD points to Jesus.

Here David calls Yawheh-God, Lord.

So here we are pointed towards the teaching of Jesus.

Jesus is the Lord.

In the same way as David called God Lord, we as Christians call Jesus Lord.

Jesus is our only Saviour.

Jesus is our only Lord.

Only Jesus provides eternal life.

Only Jesus became our substitude and died for us on the cross.

Through Him our sins are forgiven.

Eternal life is provided. Only Jesus is our Lord.

Written here is the greatness of the word and teaching of Jesus.

Look at one. In vs8 it says the commandments of the Lord enlighten the eyes.

Eye refers to the physical thing which allows you to see things.

THe commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.

In other words, the words of Jesus are pure and give light to our eyes.

How can it enlighten our eyes?

( 43,4)
(Isaiah 43:4) It tells us that Jesus loves us.
( 1,18)

(Isaiah 1:18) Because it tells us that our sins were forgiven on the cross.

Jesus tells us that though our sins be like red-scarlet they will be as white as snow.

When we hear the word of the Lord our eyes brighten.

If your eye is bad you cant see anything.

Its difficult to go to the bathroom at night.

But if you put glasses or contacts on you can see clrealy what is around you.

In the same way from the point of view of Jesus, when we see through his word we can see clearly.

That is we can see through Jesus our sin forgiven and our salvation.

Jesus words are pure, it enlightens our eyes.

Is there anyone here whos eyes are dark and suffering?

GOd wants to open and enlighten your eyes.

If you point your eyes to Him He will enlighten them.

Lets hear his word.

Lets keep our eyes on the cross and forgiveness of sin.

12-14 3
Vs12-14 3. The hidden sin within and the forgiveness of God.

Here David prays for forgiveness if he has commited sin that he doesnt know about within himself.

It is said that many Christians feel guilty about past sins.

The Bible Navi says The feelings of guilt draw us close to Jesus,

Feeling guilty about sin causes us to look to Jesus and his forgiveness.

I want share something great.

(Romans 8:1) But we must speak about hidden sin.

It says declare me innocent from secret faults or cleanse me from secret faults.

When I was around 5-6 years old there was a plastic savings box which look liked a post box.

My family would save money but because I liked snacks I would cut a hole in the back, take some money,
and then cover the hole wth tape.

I would go to a small store and then buy snacks.

A couple of days later my father would call me.
