Dear Sir or Madam: Please consider me for the position available at your school. My diverse experiences in education make me an outstanding candidate for the position. Currently, I am employed as a program assistant for the Extended Day Kindergarten program at Lincoln School in CCSD 15. Here, I work mostly in a small group setting through the Fountas & Pinnell Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI) program while other students are engaged in The Daily 5. Also in District 15, I am a part time substitute when needed. I have worked in the general education kindergarten, first, second, third, fifth, and sixth grade classrooms. Frequently, I have filled in for the reading specialist to work with a group of English Language Learners on their daily reading lessons. While I was student teaching at Richmond Intermediate School in St. Charles, I worked with third graders. I was immersed in a high-tech classroom and used a variety of technologies to engage students into higher level thinking through the Common Core Standards. The technology available allowed me to reach out to students of all abilities and push them to reach their full potential. Recently, I have been tutoring a second grade student from Lincoln School. I am working with her on addition and subtraction facts by giving her concrete problems for visual examples. I am also incorporating elements from the Multiple Intelligence theory and writing activities.
