- OWC For the given model, find the OW transition zone for a Brooks-Corey parameter of 1.5, a capillary entry pressure of 1500 Pa, oil density of 825 kg/m3 and water density of 1025 kg/m3. Plot the saturation distribution in 3D (saturation map) and along the vertical axis(plot along line). Answer the following questions: - Task 1: Is the transition of sharper or more diffuse nature than when using the class values? Explain! - Answer: The Transition Zone is sharper in the Homework example. The Saturation increases above the oil water contact faster than in the classroom example. The Brooks Corey Parameter in the classroom example compared to the homework example, is higher and therefore the distribution of the pore throat radii is more homogeneous in the classroom example. Therefore the oil distribution in the homework example should be more diffuse than in the homework example, but due to the capillary entry pressure being much lower in the homework example than in the classroom example, the transition zone is sharper and compensates for the worse distribution of pore throat radii. - Do you think migration of oil and final equilibrium be achieved faster or slower? Explain! The migration of oil and final equbrilibrium will be achieved faster in the homework example, because the entry pressure, for the oil to overcome if it wants to enter the pores of the formation, is much lower than in the classroom example. The difference in density is the same, so the effects of buoyancy are the same for classroom and homework examples.
