INTCV214 Substation Engineering (Level 2)


Course goal The goal of the course is to improve the ability of Personnel from Power Utilities, Power Generation, transmission companies & industries and Consultants responsible for engineering of substations to adapt and know the best engineering practices while Substation Design. Learning objectives Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: understand the different checklists while Substation Engineering Understand the various switchyard design calculations Participant profile Personnel from Power Utilities, Power Generation, transmission companies & industries and Consultants responsible for engineering, commissioning, operation and Maintenance of substations Prerequisites Degree or diploma in engineering, basic knowledge of power system Topics Details of layout Engineering and areas of layout optimization. Checklist for Switchyard drawings . (Plan, Section, SLD Different type of isolators affecting layout engineering, creepage considerations for insulators, altitude correction factor etc. CT application check

Lightning protection / Shielding Temperature rise calculations for ACSR / Tubular busbar Corona Surface voltage g radient Earthing design for switchyard Short circuit force calculation Wind pressure calculation Requirements of clamps for interconnection and equipment connectors. Civil Structure engineering- Overview Overview of PLCC and different configurations used for switchyard application. Overview of Engineering Auxiliary system like Illumination , HVAC, Firefighting, DG Overview of Requirement of Auxiliary AC and DC supply system in substations with different voltage levels Course type and methods This is an instructor led seminar with calculation exercises.
