Every year on December 7th, in school we are asked, What happened on this day?

Every year we hear the answer, Pearl Harbor. At first we wondered, what was Pearl Harbor? As time progressed we only learned the United States perspective, we were attacked by Japan, we declared war, we won. As a group from different ancestries, cultures, and backgrounds, we were all taught different perspectives alongside the perspective we were taught in school. When discussing our idea for a project this year, we exchanged what we knew and realized that there were different perspectives, and different effects on different cultures around the world, and that was how our website began. During our research we discovered a variety of sources consisting of speeches by different politicians. Japanese, American, German, and British politicians voiced their opinions on Pearl Harbor and the successive events. Different perspectives were key to understanding how the attack on Pearl Harbor was a turning point in WWII, The Great Depression, and great Social change in the U.S.. An especially interesting source were the speeches of General Isoruku Yamamoto(, ) who was against the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor because he feared the repercussions from an American Response. If the Japanese had followed his advice, and not attacked, the world would be a different place today. We also used images, letters, and newspapers as more primary sources to further our knowledge. We chose a website because we feel that it is the greatest way to express the large amount of sources that we found ,and the vast amount of perspectives we discovered. We are also very skilled with technology, which furthered our want to make a website. Pearl Harbor was a clear turning point in history. The surprise attack on Pearl Harbor changed the course of World War Two, changed the position of woman in Society, and helped pull the U.S. out of the Depression. This improved the quality of life for people in the U.S.. Although Pearl Harbor was a tragic event in U.S. history, and the lives lost will never be returned, the events caused by Pearl Harbor

spurred prosperity for the United States. When Isoruku Yamamoto stated I fear we have awakened a sleeping giant. He had awakened America more than he could imagine.
