Luxury hotel in Dubai, UAE Fourth tallest hotel in the world (321 m).

Stands on an artificial island 280 m away from the Jumeirah beach & connected to main land by private curving bridge. It is called as the worlds only seven star hotel. It is shaped like a sail of a dhow. The symbolic statement for Dubai.

Construction started in 1994. Completed in 1999. Designed by architect Tom Wright of WS Atkins. Developed by the Jumeriah group. Built by South African construction contractor Murray & Roberts and Al Habtoor Engineering. Cost 650 million dollars to build.

Eight restaurants & bars. Hotel boasts of 8,000 square meters of 22-carat gold leaf and 24,000 square meters of 30 different types of marble.

Structure is made of steel exoskeleton wrapped around an reinforced concrete tower. Between the wings is enclosed by a Tefloncoated fibre glass sail. Sail is made of a material called Dyneon , consists of two layers, and is divided into twelve panels and installed vertically. Fabric is coated with DuPont Teflon.
