IN Maintenance Procedures The purpose of this exercise was to ensure that the IN Platform continues running smoothly in the

absence of the Huawei IN Support Engineer, who will be away for about 1 month. This exercise was supervised by Mr. Zhao Cheng, Manager for Core Systems and Services Development and conducted by Mr. Li Yang, Huawei IN Support Engineer. The scope of this exercise covered all the key IN Platform nodes, including the: SMP, SCP, VC, USAU, SMC and SMAP. Special emphasis was put on the following Key areas: Securing User names and Passwords Getting the IP Address details of the IN Nodes Verifying the key maintenance procedures/commands parameters to consider, which included the following: IP Address: SMP: SCP: VC: SMC: 10.76.200.14 10.76.200.110 10.76.200.13 10.76.200.42 and

The maintenance procedures mainly monitor the following key parameters: Memory usage Processor status Disk space Start time

To monitor these parameters, procedures/commands are used: E.g. for the SMP Telnet Log in: 10.76.200.14 Enter user name

the

following

Password:Enter password After logging in, run the following commands: Ls dev -Cc memory (to check memory usage) Ls dev -Cc processor Df -k P (to monitor the processor status) (to check the disk space) (to check the start time)

The same commands apply to the SCP and VC. However, to check the CPU usage of the VC, instead of the above mentioned command, use top command. The SMC is to be monitored by use of the SMT-MT Console. The last item considered was the issue of getting online customer support from Mr. Li Yang or other Huawei support in case need arises, especially for Second line maintenance. It was agreed that we shall use team view to effect this and we were taken through the procedures of launching and using team viewer. After launching team view, select: extras options security and then create a password: 123456 Then confirm the password. Thereafter, an ID and Password is generated. This ID and password should be recorded and sent to the customer support to enable them remotely log into the PC.

Lastly but not least, we were also taken through the procedures for sending a broadcast SMS. However, the application used at the moment is in an unlicensed version in Chinese, but the procedure windows were recorded step by step.
