Response Essay On Dumpster Diving In the story On Dumpster Diving, Lars Eighner describes his life while homeless and living out of dumpsters. After reading Eighners essay one can only conclude dumpster diving is an art, not a nasty way of living. Eighner does not look at his life style as dirty or disgusting way of living but instead explains it by saying, I like the frankness of the word scavenging, which I can hardly think of without picturing a big black snail on an aquarium wall (254). Furthermore, Eighner also describes how he has acquired all the different aspects to dumpster diving, realizing one needs to think outside the box to be a successful survivor of the homeless life. Eighner states, I mean to put some of what I have learned down here, beginning with the practical art of Dumpster diving and proceeding to the abstract (254). However, by learning all the parts to dumpster diving, Eighner has become an artist of the scavenging world making himself a successful living individual of the homeless life. (Word Count 171 Words)
