Forensic accounting expert to host lecture at Leeds Met

Forensic accounting expert Chris Clements, who is a partner at global professional services network - Grant Thornton, is to give a guest lecture at Leeds Metropolitan University. The event, entitled Forensic accounting in the commercial environment will take place on Thursday 21 February, from 6-7pm in the Universitys Rose Bowl at the City Campus.

Mr Clements, who has specialised in forensic accounting since 1996 and has a wealth of experience in fraud, investigation, determination and expert witness work, heads up Grant Thorntons Forensic and Investigation Services team in the UK regions. In his lecture, Mr Clements will discuss Forensic Accounting in the Commercial Environment. His presentation will draw on actual cases, what was involved and steps taken to flush out and resolve such occurrences. He commented: Forensic accountancy is now recognised as a separate discipline within accountancy, bringing together legal knowledge and investigative skills that deliver solutions to clients in difficult circumstances. Some of the cases I will cover in the lecture involve local, national and international matters that will inform and entertain.

Mr Clements is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He is a Member of the

Expert Witness Institute, the Academy of Experts, and is an accredited mediator. Paul Houghton, a Principal Lecturer in Leeds Metropolitans Faculty of Business and Law, said: It is a great pleasure for Leeds Met to welcome Chris Clements as a guest speaker. Forensic accounting is a fascinating, topical and important subject and the event will be of interest to regional businesses and members of the public as well as our staff and students.

Grant Thornton is a global professional services network of independent accounting and consulting member firms which provide assurance, tax and advisory services to privately held businesses, public interest entities, and public sector entities.
