Procedure : Procedure: 1. Collect a stand, a burette clamp and a white tile to construct a titration set-up. 2. Rinse the burette with distilled water or deionised water and then with 0.005 M iodine solution. 3. Fill the burette with 0.005 M iodine solution. Make sure that the tip of the burette is filled with iodine solution. 4. Record both the brand name and the volume of a bottle of fruit juice from the label. 5. Rinse a 25 cm3 pipette with distilled water and then with the fruit juice. 6. Pipette 25 cm3 of fruit juice into a clean 250 cm3 conical flask. 7. Measure about 12 cm3 of 1.0 M sodium hydroxide solution using a clean measuring cylinder. Pour it into the conical flask. 8. Stand the flask for about 10 minutes. 9. Measure about 10 cm3 of 2.0 M sulphuric acid using a clean measuring cylinder. Pour it into the conical flask. 10. Record the initial burette reading in Table 1. 11. Add 3 drops of freshly prepared starch solution to the conical flask. 12. Titrate the reaction mixture with 0.005 M iodine solution quickly until it just changes from colourless to dark blue. Record the final burette reading in Table 1. This is a trial titration to estimate the volume of the iodine solution required. Calculate the volume of the iodine solution reacted in titration. 13. Add the given iodine solution to the burette through a filter funnel if the volume remained is not enough to carry out another titration. 14. Repeat steps 6-13 to obtain 2-3 sets of consistent results (i.e. difference of results within 0.1 cm3). However, stop draining iodine solution at about 2 cm3 less than the estimated value. Add the iodine solution drop by drop until the reaction mixture in the conical flask just changes from colourless to dark blue.
