Scope
This document is intended to provide general guideline to put GPRS roaming in service, consult the references for additional information.

Prerequisites
GPRS is working and fully functional for local subscribers Billing system is ready to provide TAP files for GPRS calls. Border Gateway and Fire-Wall ready DNS service with intra-PLMN

Procedure
Get the IP address.
Needs to get the IP public addressing for all visible network elements of the intra and inter PLMN network. That will ensure that the address specified is unique and is officially reserved from Internet addressing authority.

Get the AS (Autonomous System) Number.


It is used on the protocol BGP-4 and it is provided by GSMA.

Get the GRX (GPRS Roaming eXchange, serving point of GPRS Roaming Network).
The function of this element is to provide routing, interconnecting and some additional services, such as DNS. Some special considerations have to be taken to choose the GRX service provider: Interconnection between GPRS networks; Interconnection between other GRX; Routing of traffic between participating GPRS networks and GRXs; A centralized DNS service; Defined minimum quality of service levels; Have BGP-4 routing capability;

Conform with security requirements: IPSec (if applicable), anti-spoofing, non-visibility to public Internet etc.

SGSN Configuration
SGSN must be configured to route PD over GRX. Contact the equipment provider.
