1.a. The diffusivity of Helium in Pyrex glass at 20oC and 100 kN/m2 pressure is 1.16 x 10-15 m2/s.

Calculate the rate loss of Helium from a Pyrex flask filled with pure Helium at a pressure of 100 kN/m2 and 20oC into the Helium-free air surrounding the flask (at the same pressure). The flask wall is 2mm thick and has a surface area of 0.1m2.

PHe = 100 kN/m2 X=0

Pair = 100 kN/m2

X = 0.002
