Please ensure that you read the following important information that pertains to the course (The National Senior Certificate) for which you are enrolling. Please check the boxes as you complete the reading of the different points.
You are required to complete ALL your assessment tasks (including controlled tests and examinations) within a calendar year. This means, that you will start your studies in January / February, and write your final examinations in October / November. Should you enrol AFTER 15 February, you will not be able to sit for the final examinations in that same year. You may however continue working through the study material, but ALL assessment tasks may only be completed the following year the year in which you will write your final examinations. Prescribed Literature Even though the literature component for languages is addressed, it will be your responsibility to source or purchase prescribed textbooks and additional study guides. If you plan to write the final examination for language subjects the following year (next year), it is your responsibility to enquire from the College whether the prescribed textbooks for literature have changed. Continuous Assessment (CASS) You have to complete assessment tasks, controlled tests and midyear examinations for ALL the subjects that you are studying, as these marks will constitute 25% of your final mark. If you do not complete these tasks, the College cannot give you a final result as your marks will be incomplete. If you have not submitted all assessment tasks for marking and completed all controlled tests and midyear examinations, you will not be allowed to write the final examinations. This means that you will have to repeat these subjects in the following year. Submission of assessment tasks You will not be allowed to resubmit your assessments for marking. It is therefore important that you do your very best for each assessment task that you have to complete. Make sure that you prepare well for controlled tests and examinations. The required assessment tasks /assignments MUST be submitted to the College for marking by the dates prescribed by the College. These dates are populated in a table that you will find in your Orientation Guide that has been included in your enrolment pack. These dates will also be available on the College website. Examinations You will write 2 examinations: an external examination administered by the Department of Basic Education, and an internal mock examination administered by the College. All examination fees are excluded from the enrolment fees. External Examinations You will have to be registered with the Department of Basic Education by 10 March for the October/November final external examinations. All registration forms need to be with the Department of Basic Education by 15 March. Registration for the external examination will take place via the College. Speak to a consultant for more information. The examination fees for the final external examination will be determined by the examination venue at which you will write.

Internal Examinations/Controlled Tests/Oral Examinations You must write the internal mock examinations, controlled tests and do oral examinations in the same year that you register to write the final external examinations. If you do not register and write the mock examinations, controlled tests, and midyear examinations and do oral examinations, your continuous assessment (CASS) mark will be incomplete; and you will not be resulted. The internal mock examinations, controlled tests and oral examinations are conducted by the College. The internal mock examinations will be written in August/September. You will be responsible to register for the mock examinations and controlled tests by 18th March. Examination, controlled tests and oral venues will be provided in major centres in each province. Examination fees are excluded from your enrolment fees. Examination fees are R430 per subject and are subject to change. Life Orientation One of the tasks that you will have to complete for Life Orientation is a Physical Education Task (PET). The mark for this task will constitute a quarter of your total mark for Life Orientation. The Physical Education Task will be monitored throughout the year; and a mark will be awarded to learners at the end of each term, based on the frequency of participation in physical education activities, and formal assessment at the end of each term. This means that you will have regular face-to-face contact with a Life Orientation educator throughout the year. You will be provided with more detail in the assessment task for physical education, which you will find in the study guide for Life Orientation. Learner Evidence of Performance File/Portfolio You will have to compile a portfolio for each subject. A portfolio will contain all the required completed and marked continuous assessment tasks that you have to do for a particular subjects. Authenticity of Progress Reports / Statement of Results Progress reports / Statement of results with which you provided the College MUST be an authentic copy of the original report, as it was issued by the school/institution at which you obtained your highest grade. .. No alteration MUST have been made to the progress report/ statement of results. You must be aware that a criminal charge can be lodged against you the learner/parent/legal guardian, should it be established that the progress report/statement of results is fraudulent, or if it has been tampered with. The progress report/statement of results MUST be certified by a Commissioner of Oaths. Study Material The study material for each subject will be sent to you in batches according to the work and assessment tasks that you have to complete for each term. The first set of study material that you will receive for each subject on which you are enrolled, will contain the content that needs to be covered for the first term. Included in this material, will also be the necessary assessment tasks that you will have to complete and submit for marking for the first term. The rest of the study material will be follow up dispatches for subsequent terms.
