It tells you here journey from Africa to America and how hard her life was. That she was born a slave and when she was little she had to move from Africa to America. It inspired me because she had a hard life as a kid and poetry would help her in her life. She had to work everyday for little money and they would treat her bad. It makes me sad that she had to work hard for all her work.

Black History is Month is here!!

Dear, Joseline Black history, month is very important to may people and it is also very important to me. We celebrate it because we take a look back at African Americans that worked hard and got treated bad. It is like history when we take a look back and see how hard they worked. I selected the poem because it inspired me on her journey to America. I made me feel bad for all the bad things they made her do.

"Twas mercy brought me from my Pagan land, Taught my benighted soul to understand That there's a God, that there's a Saviour too: Once I redemption neither sought nor knew. Some view our sable race with scornful eye, "Their colour is a diabolic die." Remember, Christians, Negros, black as Cain, May be refin'd and join th'angelic train.
