The brighter colours of the red and blue on the mask allow for the jump scare to be escalated due to the visibility of the mask in the dark. The colour red holds connotations of death, blood and violence which foreshadows what is to come later on in the opening sequence. The disfigurement of the overall face and white of the eyes focuses on the harm and malice inflicted upon the girls who are uploaded to the murderers website. The slight pained expression on the mask overall emphasises the torture and violent aspects associated with the genre horror/thriller.
