Camillus
(Camillian Sisters)
The Congregation
A religious congregation of women of Pontifical Right dedicated to serve the sick, the aged and the dying.
Our life in the community is enriched by prayer, apostolate and fraternal sharing.
Our Beginnings
Founded in Lucca, Italy in 1829
The charitable choice of the foundress was determined by her perception of a social need: the need of the abandoned sick in the hovels in which they lived. In those days in Lucca, Italy, poverty and sickness were a dishonor and the relatives were abandoning the sick in solitude and indifference.
The Foundress
A woman of strong faith, exceptional courage and extra ordinary compassion for others most especially to the sick and the poor.
Gods Invitation
If you want to be perfect, go sell what you have and give the money to the poor, then come and follow me.
Our Response
I profess to God the vows of chastity, poverty, obedience and furthermore, the vow to service the sick even at the risk of my life.
Do you feel God moving in your heart inviting you to serve Him in the sick?
Heal the sick and say to them: the kingdom of God is at hand.
