1. What is the historical context of this document? (i.e., what is happening globally around the time of this document?) The American Revolution is occurring around the time of this document.

2. What was the authors purpose/agenda in writing the document? The author wrote this letter to discuss his thoughts on the liberation movement. He talks about the American Revolution, and how Americas situation wasnt much different from the situation that they were in. The author wants to start a revolution for his country, as he discusses in the letter.

3. What about the author makes them say what they say (occupation, religion, ethnicity, gender, country of origin, etc.)? i.e., what is their POV? The author being from Venezuela definantly affects his POV. He wants to be free from Spain and Portugal. He uses the American Revolution as an example of what Venezuela could be like.

4. Write three sentences: The first sentence should introduce the document with an appropriate attribution; the second sentence should cite a point of view or bias from the author with appropriate verbiage and grammar; and the third sentence should call for an additional document to better help your analysis. This document is from a Venezuelan citizen who wants to break away from his mother country, Spain. This document is biased towards Venezuela because the author of the letter is Venezuelan. An additional document from the perspective of a Spanish citizen from the same time would help a lot.
