Dear Parents/Guardians, Our names are Ruth Tovar and Yensi Ayala.

We are seniors at Sharpstown International School and we have chosen to work with Pat Neff Elementary School for our senior capstone project. For our project we would love to start an after school club called Music for the Mind for students that want to learn how to play the piano and other percussion instruments . We want to show how being involved in music improves concentration and academic scores especially in math and science. Students involved will be given a very short preassessment to see where their math and science scores are. They will continue to be reassessed on their skills every two weeks to show their improvement. Recording parts of our classes will also be necessary. Recording our classes and uploading weekly videos to our Facebook like page Music for the Mind will help us to reflect on what we are doing, and will be evidence to provide for our schools Capstone (Senior Project) teacher, Ms. Devaney. It is a great opportunity for us to share our experience with all of you about how far students can go with music. We will be working with Pat Neffs music teacher Ms. Burrus, Sharpstown Internationals music teacher Mr. Morris, and student volunteers from Sharpstown International that will be assisting students with instruments. The classes will be held at Neff and will be after school on ________ and _______ from __:___pm-__:___pm. Our goal is not only to improve students academic skills but also to bring people together, and share the gift of music that lasts a lifetime.
