Narrated Anas bin Malik:
A Jewess brought a poisoned (cooked) sheep for the Prophet who ate from it. She
was brought to the Prophet and he was asked, "Shall we kill her?" He said, "No." I
continued to see the effect of the poison on the palate of the mouth of Allah's
Apostle.
Une Juive apporta un mouton empoisonn au Prophte qui en mangea. Elle fut
ensuite amene au Prophte et on lui demanda: "devons nous la tuer ?" Il dit
"non". J'ai continu voir l'effet du poison sur le palais de la bouche de l'Aptre
d'Allah.

Anas reported that a Jewess came to Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him)
with poisoned mutton and he took of that what had been brought to him (Allah's
Messenger). (When the effect of this poison were felt by him) he called for her and
asked her about that, whereupon she said: I had determined to kill you. Thereupon
he said: Allah will never give you the power to do it. He (the narrator) said that they
(the Companion's of the Holy Prophet) said: Should we not kill her? Thereupon he
said: No. He (Anas) said: I felt (the affects of this poison) on the uvula of Aitah's
Messenger.
Une Juive est venue au Messager d'Allah avec un mouton empoisonn et il en a pris
de ce qui lui a t apport. (Quand il a commenc sentir l'effet du poison) il envoya
la chercher...

Translation:
..."The apostle of Allah and his companions ate from it. It (goat) said: "I am
poisoned." He [Muhammad] said to his Companions, "Hold your hands! because it

has informed me that it is poisoned!" They withdrew their hands, but Bishr Ibn alBara expired. The apostle of Allah sent for her (Jewess) and asked her, "What
induced you to do what you have done?" She replied, "I wanted to know if you are
a prophet, in that case it will not harm you and if you are a king, I shall relieve the
people of you. He gave orders and she was put to death."
Traduction:
"L'aptre d'Allah et ses compagnons ont mang (de la chvre). Elle (la chvre) a dit:
"Je suis empoisonne." Il (Mahomet) a dit ses compagnons, "Levez vos mains!
car elle m'a dit qu'elle est empoisonne!" Ils ont retirs leurs mains, mais Bishr Ibn
al-Bara est mort. L'aptre d'Allah l'a convoque (la femme Juive) et lui a dit,
"Qu'est-ce qui t'a pouss faire cela?" Elle lui rpondit, "Si tu es un Prophte, ce
que jai fait ne te nuira pas et si tu es un roi, je soulagerai les gens de toi." Il a donn
des ordres et elle ft mise mort."

Allah's Apostle never proceeded (for the prayer) on the Day of 'Id-ul-Fitr unless he
had eaten some dates. Anas also narrated: The Prophet used to eat odd number of
dates.
L'Aptre d'Allah ne se rendait jamais la prire le Jour de 'Id-ul-Fitr sans avoir
mang quelques dattes...Le Prophte avait l'habitude de manger un nombre
surprenant de dattes.

Aisha reported that when Allahs Messenger fell ill, he recited over his body
Muawwidhatan and blew over himself and when his sickness was aggravated I used
to recite over him and rub him with his hand with the hope that it was more blessed.

Acha a dit: Durant sa maladie, le Messager d'Allah soufflait sur son corps tout en
rcitant les (prires) Mu'awwadhat et quand il n'tait plus capable de le faire je les
rcitais sur lui et le frottais avec sa propre main.

The apostle of Allah fell ill and he i.e. Gabriel, chanted on him, saying, "In the name
of Allah I chant on to ward off from you every thing that harms you and (to ward
"off you) against every envier and from every evil eye and Allah will heal you.
Traduction:
L'Aptre d'Allah est tomb malade et il (Gabriel) l'a exorcis en disant: Au nom
d'Allah je t'exorcise de tout ce qui peut te nuire, de tous les envieux, du mauvais oeil
et qu'Allah te gurisse.

Translation:
The apostle of Allah lived after this three years till in consequence of his pain he
passed away. During his illness he used to say, "I did not cease to find the effect of
the (poisoned) morsel, I took at Khaibar and I suffered several times (from its
effect) but now I feel the hour has come of the cutting of my jugular vein*."
* 'the cutting of my jugular vein': used metaphorically for extreme pain

Aprs ceci l'Aptre d'Allah a vcu trois ans, puis il est dcd la suite de ses
douleurs. Au cours de sa maladie il disait: Je n'ai cess d'prouver les effets de ce
que j'ai mang Khaybar et l'heure est venue pour que ma veine jugulaire soit
coupe*.
* 'que ma veine jugulaire soit coupe': mtaphore pour douleurs extrmes

Narrated 'Aisha: The Prophet in his ailment in which he died, used to say, "O
'Aisha! I still feel the pain caused by the food I ate at Khaibar, and at this time, I
feel as if my aorta is being cut from that poison."
Acha a relat: Durant sa maladie de laquelle il est mort, le Prophte disait souvent,
"O Acha! je sens encore la douleur cause par la nourriture que j'ai mange
Khaybar, et en ce moment, je sens comme si mon aorte est en train d'tre coupe
cause de ce poison."

Translation:
Umm Bishr [the mother of the Muslim man who also died eating poison], came to
the prophet during his illness and said, "O apostle of Allah! I never saw fever like it
in any one." The prophet said to her, "Our trial is double and so our reward [in
heaven], is double. What do the people say about it [his illness]?" She said, "They
say it is pleurisy." Thereupon the apostle said, "Allah will not like to make His
apostle suffer from it (pleurisy) because it indicates the possession of Satan, but (my
disease is the result of) the morsel that I had taken along your son. It has cut my
jugular vein."
Traduction:
Umm Bishr [la mre de l'homme mort empoisonn Khaybar], est venue voir le
prophte durant sa maladie et lui a dit, "O aptre d'Allah! Je n'ai jamais vu
personne atteint d'une telle fivre." Le prophte lui a dit, "Notre preuve est double
tout comme notre rcompense [au ciel], est double. Que disent les gens [de cette
maladie]?" Elle a dit, "Ils disent que c'est une pleursie." L'aptre d'Allah a dit,
"Allah ne l'infligerait pas son aptre car elle (la pleursie) vient de Satan, mais elle
(ma maladie) est plutt le rsultat de la nourriture que j'ai mange avec ton fils.
Elle a coupe ma veine jugulaire."

When the last moment of the prophet was near, he used to draw a sheet over his
face; but when he felt uneasy, he removed it from his face and said: "Allah's

damnation be on the Jews and the Christians who made the graves of their prophets
objects of worship."
Traduction:
Lorsque le dernier moment du prophte tait proche, il tirait un drap sur son
visage, mais quand il se sentait mal l'aise, il le retirait de son visage puis il dit:
"Que la maldiction d'Allah soit sur les Juifs et les Chrtiens qui ont fait des tombes
de leurs prophtes des objets de culte."
