French verbs with irregular future stems As discussed on the previous page, French verbs form their future

tense by adding endings to the future stem, which in most cases (even for irregular verbs) is the infinitive. However, a few verbs have irregular future stems, as listed in the table below. Verb Future tense je serai, tu tre seras etc j'aurai, tu avoir auras etc je devrai etc; je -evoir: devoir, recevoir, dcevoir et recevrai etc, je c dcevrai etc voir and compounds aller faire (and compounds) pouvoir savoir vouloir falloir, valoir pleuvoir mouvoir and compounds je verrai etc j'irai etc je ferai etc je pourrai etc je saurai etc je voudrai etc il faudra; il vaudra etc il pleuvra je mouvrai etc

Notice that even in the case of these irregular future stems, the future tense endings are always preceded by an r.
