ELEMENTS OF FICTION Exposition

For the first meeting in more six months, Rob and Rachel Bliss chose a public restaurant. It seemed safer that way. Rob prompt as usual, was waiting when Rachel, late as usual, came dashing through the front door, out of the rainy Minneapolis night. In the instant Rachels gray eyes met Robs before returning to the paper she held, they were colder than the morning fog. take her out to a candlelight dinner, she read. give her breakfast in bed, by her flowers. she drew a deep, shuddering breath. kidnap her in the middle of the night and carry her away to the woods for a midnight picnic Thrusting the paper beneath his horrified gaze. Rob took the list, but didnt even bother to look at it, instead he crushed It into a ball.

Falling Action
A last word to any man: your wife wants to know you love her. You may think it. . and you may feel it. But if you dont say it a loud, youd better be married to a mindreader. Otherwise shell never know.

Denouement
The Blisses autographed a stack of books and posed for autographs with relieved good humor. Rob, feeling ebullient as they drove back to Mossbank, suggested they go out for dinner that night .
