1. The pattern of a number sequence is the relationship between the numbers in that sequence. Example: 2, 5, 8, 11, 2. A number sequence can be formed following a certain pattern. Example: 3, 6, 12, 24, 48 ,

Odd and Even Numbers


1. Odd numbers are whole numbers which are not divisible by 2. Example 1: 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, Example 2: List all the odd numbers from 150 to 160. Solution:151,153,155,157,159 2. Even numbers are whole numbers which are divisible by 2. Example 1: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, Example 2: List all the even numbers from 120 to 130. Solution:120,122,124,126,128,130 3. All odd numbers end in 1,3,5,7 or 9. 4. All even numbers end in 0,2,4,6 or 8.

Prime Numbers
1. A prime number is a whole number that is divisible only by itself and 1. 2. 1 is not a prime number. 3. All prime numbers are odd numbers except 2. 4. Example: List all the prime numbers from 23 to 47. Solution: 23,29,31,37,41,43,47

Factors
1. A factor is a number which divides exactly into another number. 2. To find the factors of a number, divide the number by itself and by whole numbers that are smaller than it. Example: 6 divide by 6 is 1. 6 divide by 3 is 2. 6 divide by 2 is 3. 6 divide by 1 is 6. The factors of 6 are 1,2,3,and 6. 3. The number 1 is a factor of every number. 4. Every number is a factor of itself. Prime Factors 1. The prime factors of a whole number are its factors which are prime numbers. 2. To find the prime factors of a number, divide the number by prime numbers which are smaller than it. 3. The number 1 is not a prime factor.
