Also have someone with you to reduce the probability of this occurrence. Wear the appropriate clothing to reduce the effects of the weather so you are less likely to fall i.e. boots instead of plimsolls in snow and take extra care in bad weather conditions.

Paths are gritted well dependant on the severity of the weather. An additional strap can be put upon the camera so it can be held around the neck and reduce the risk of falling on the floor.
