ASSEMBLYMAN KEAN TO HOLD PRESS CONFERENCE ON COASTAL LAKE RESTORATION BILL

Assemblyman Sean T. Kean (R-Monmouth, Ocean) will hold a press conference on Tuesday, March 12, to discuss his recently introduced legislation that urges the United States Congress and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to consider and incorporate coastal lake restoration projects as part of Superstorm Sandy recovery. Many of the coastal lakes in Monmouth County were impacted by Superstorm Sandy in addition to the various problems affecting them before the storm. Sandy caused several lakes to flood and seriously damage surrounding homes. As the shore region recovers and rebuilds from Sandy, Kean feels now is the time to reduce the potential for these lakes to flood again and work to improve the water quality. Assemblyman Kean will be joined by Tony MacDonald, Director of the Urban Coast Institute at Monmouth University and Tim Dillingham, Executive Director of the American Littoral Society. Local environmental clubs and lake supporters have been invited to attend.
