BIOGRAPHY OF CHARLES SPENCER CHAPLIN

Charlie Chaplin was born in Walworth, London, England on April 26th, 1889. When his parents Charles and Hannah got divorced Charles lived whit his mother and his brother Sidney, but they were very poor, thats the reason Charles started to work hard, acting on the streets, because his mother was very sick (bad of the view). During his childhood he was very sad and alone because he went to the Hanwell Schools for poor children, and lived with his father and his bad stepmother. After some months Charles learned from her mother to act and became one of Eight boys in Eight Lancashire Lads. After 6 months Charles father died and he lived with Sidney, so Charles got a job on the stage. Between that he fell in love of Hetty Kelly who didnt accept him. So he left England. Then he worked for Fred Karno in an act called The Wow-Wows. Next in 1913 Mack Sennet watched Charles on the stage in New York, so he helped Charles to be the most important Stars of the silent film era, often associated with his popular "Little Tramp" character; the man with the toothbrush mustache, bowler hat, bamboo cane, and a funny walk. In November 1914, he left Keystone and signed on at Essanay Company, where he made 15 films for example The floor Walker, The fireman, Easy street and The Adventurer, Charles got 670000dollars a year when he was only 27 with the help of Sidney. So their mother had a beautiful house by the sea. At the end of 1917, he married sixteen-year-old Mildred Harris, but after the end of his marriage, he had one of his most famous films called The Kid with Jackie Coogan. His next film was A Woman Of Paris, it wasnt a funny film, Chaplin next made The Gold Rush-perhaps his greatest film. He looked for an actress to play the girl, she was Lita Grey with whom he got married, but in 1926, they got divorced. Something else happened in the film business about this time. People began to use sound in film, so Chaplin made another film-City Lights, he gave it music, but the actors didnt speak in this time he married Paulette, but in 1941 they werent married. Chaplin's life and career was full of scandal and controversy. His first big scandal was during World War I, during which time his loyalty to England, his home country, was questioned. In the middle of it all, he met and married Oona ONeill. The newspapers didnt like it, because Charlie was fifty-four54, and Oona was only 18. Charlie made his last great film-limelight. It was about an old actor who falls in love with a beautiful young dancer. When he finished Limelight, Charlie was very tired. So Charlie spent the last 20 years of his life in Switzerland. In Hollywood, 1972 when he was 82 America gave him an Oscar-the film worlds biggest thank you to any actor. Charles Chaplin died on December 25th 1977. His wife Oona, was Charlies last love. They stayed together for 33 years-for life-and they had eight children.
