Little Monkeys Parental Involvement Policy

Parent involvement is critical to this home childcare program. Working as a team will help to support the children in their development. Creating strong communication between the childs home and this day care program helps to build a strong working relationship and trust and security among all involved. It is important in this childcare setting that parents concerns, ideas and opinions about their children and the program are freely expressed and taken into consideration. The following list includes a variety of ways in which parental involvement is encouraged in this day care setting:

Parent-care provider conferences, are at the request of either the care provider or parents. This may be used to discuss any concerns in the program or to discuss common goals or a childs progress in the program.

Open Door policy: There is an open door policy in place in this home child care which simply implies that parents and other close family members are encouraged to visit this program at any time. No need to call ahead. Parents are also encouraged to call to check in at any time throughout the day care day to check in. I also check my e-mail on a regular basis for any questions, or concerns.

Parent Volunteers: If a parent has extra time in the day and would like to spend time volunteer in their childrens day care program they are more than welcome. This may be of benefit for a special outing for example.

Daycare BBQ Party - Parents are encouraged to attend a picnic/potluck with the children and parents of those in care. These will be scheduled for a suitable time for families and will be twice a year. The dates of the events change each year.

Daily Feedback- Parents will be informed on what the child was offered/ ate, elimination, behaviour or health concerns, positive accomplishments and activities completed.

Grandparents or other close family members are encouraged to be a part of the program, and are welcome at interviews, parties and to drop in.
