Why do R-Couplings have two oil circuits and two coolers?

Working oil flow higher than lube oil flow Working oil temperature higher than lube oil temperature Working oil circuit is a closed circuit

Why do R-Couplings have a closed working oil circuit?

High power transmission and therefore high oil flow would need a very big pump at open circuit

Why do R-Couplings have an oil flow valve?

Maximum oil flow is not necessary in every scoop tube position Valve reduces oil flow losses, power range of RK is much higher than on many S-Couplings

What are fusible plugs good for? To protect the oil against burning To protect the unit against high temperature in case of temperature signal failure

When do they respond? On coupling overload or low oil flow On cooler failure
What happens when they response? The solder melts and oil is sprayed out Output speed decreases due to less filling in the coupling When do they have to be checked? After a trip because of too high working oil temperature If the speed is reduced superior on same scoop tube position
