It is important to put the punctuation in its correct spot. When writing, the book title
should be underlined instead of italicized. If you are typing your bibliography, the title
needs to be in italics.
The indentation is important. This is called a hanging indent. It also needs to be doubled
spaced and alphabetized from A-Z. To get a hanging indent in Microsoft Word, first
highlight the bibliography entry, then go to Paragraph then, under the indentation
section there should be a drop down menu under the word Special. Select Hanging
and his okay.

If there is more than one author, follow the example below:

It is important to have only the first authors name reversed with the last name first and
the first name last. Be sure to list the authors names as they appear on your book.
If the author is unknown, start with the title.

Encyclopedia or Dictionary
Entry. Encyclopedia Name or Dictionary Name. Edition. Date Published.

Dictionary and encyclopedia entries are abbreviated since the books are alphabetized and
easy to use. Unless the source is uncommon, thats all the information you need.

Abbreviated Month and Year: Page Numbers.

Its important to put the article title in quotations while the magazine title is in italics
when using a computer. If its handwritten, the magazine title needs to be underlined.

Magazine Article in a WEEKLY Magazine

Abbreviated Month, Day and Year: Page Numbers.

Article in a Daily Newspaper

Day Abbreviated Month. Year, edition., sec.: Page Numbers.

Months are abbreviated in newspaper citations as well as some others. January becomes
Jan. for example.
Newspapers have different editions, such as late ed., eastern ed., or natl. ed.

If the websites authors cant be found, start with the website title and skip the author
names.

Email

Its important to cite any emails that you may get from professionals. The subject line is
like the title of the email so be sure to accurately label your emails when sending so your
citation titles make sense.

Personal Interview
Last Name of person interviewed, First Name of person interviewed.
Personal interview. Day Abbreviated Month. Year.
Personal interviews, such as those with a professional vet, are easy to cite! All you need is their
first and last name, and the date!
