Abstract
Wireless WAN (Wide Area Networks) defines networking over vast distances. Wireless WAN technology used in Cellular Telephony and Satellite networks to access the internet directly. Wireless WAN Components : Wireless WAN user devices. Base Stations Use Cellular network for data transmission. Radio NIC (Network Interface Controller) Wireless WAN Systems: 1. Cellular-Based Wireless WANs 2. Space-Based Wireless WANs 1. Cellular Based Wireless WANs: The cell tower receives signals from user devices and transmit information back to the user. Components: Cell towers Concentrators Voice Switches Data gateways 2. Space-Based Wireless WANs: One way for broadcasting television and other communications. Two way exchange of data, allowing a user to send data up to the satellite (and vice versa). Components: Satellite Base Station Antenna

Wireless WAN Technologies: Focus on modulation of voice and data Each user has a dedicated channel This significantly reduces interference between wireless WAN user devices and base stations. Different Modulations: FDMA CDMA TDMA Advantages:
Covers a large geographical area so long distance business can connect on the one network Shares software and resources with connecting workstations Share information/files over a larger area large network cover

Disadvantages: Are expensive and generally slow

Need a good firewall to restrict outsiders from entering and disrupting the network Setting up a network can be expensive and complicated experience. Conclusion: Wireless WAN technology used for access the internet over wide area network.
