Web. 7 February 2013. In the Chapter Shelias Rage from Runaway Train: Youth with Emotional Disturbance by Autumn Libal explains the different types of self-esteem and what the consequences of low self-esteem are. There are many different types of self-esteem and one of them is emotional disturbance. Emotional disturbance is the state at being at war with oneself; this can involve any condition of emotional distress that can affect how a person functions. Cognitive therapy and perhaps medication, if needed, is used to treat psychiatric disorders. Emotional disturbance has many different symptoms such as difficulty learning, trouble developing or maintaining relationships with people, behaving in a way that is unhealthy, having unhappiness or depression for a long period, and developing acute anxiety and physical symptoms such as fatigue or illness. This resource helped me with my research question by giving me the different types of self-esteem there are and telling me their symptoms, it also tells me the type of treatment someone can receive. This will help me on my Informational Text by giving me an example of how one type of self-esteem works, how it can affect somebody, and treatment that could be given. The article helped me understand this topic more because it gave me an example of low self-esteem works and it provided me the different types of symptoms it holds.
