Whats the big deal? Its only a triangle.

Is known as the founder of the right triangle theorem that was named after him.

He did not discover this theorem.

It was discovered 1000 years earlier by the Babylonians.


He was considered to be the first mathematician to prove it

The mathematicians lived permanently with the Society, had no personal possessions and were vegetarians. They were taught by Pythagoras himself and obeyed strict rules.

Pythagoras believed that all of life and nature was created and was harmonious with numbers. When he realized that he had found an irrational number his whole philosophical outlook was in jeopardy. ALL irreducible square roots are irrational.
