How does your media product represent particular social groups?

My cover artist is shown through a on my front cover, with his face covered by shadow, this the serious side artist, and the collared shirt and dark clothadd to this. He looks smart, stylish and serious, three close up partially shows to my his ing

characteristics that match a more formal publication and theme such as Antidote. His clothing and overall look seen throughout would appeal to slightly older social groups of 22 - 45 that I was aiming my magazine at as it comes across more formal and stylish and serious than your typical music magazine found on shop shelves and I have taken influence from 60s fashion and a more formal city attire from the 2000s. Both artists that I am comparing my artist too (left) are also male, single individual artists as opposed to a band, and both handle lead vocals and lead guitar and create a universal brit pop sound, not aimed at any sex in particular. My artist will appeal more to a male audience, however this doesn't mean that my artist ignores a female audience, with a similar sound to Weller and Kane, my artist Christopher Hurst is likely to draw in audience and fans similar to those of the opposing artists. Through my research into the 2 artists above, I have styled my costumes and photographs around those similar to the others, a more professional stylish shot as opposed to something unordinary seen in magazines such as Vice or NME. I have tried to keep my shoot simple and stylish similar to the work found in Port and Creative Future magazine. I have used a selection of close ups, mid shots and long shots on plain backgrounds, focusing on the quality and style of his clothing, something that shows both with Miles Kane and Paul Weller too, and something the audience of Antidote would too appreciate as they may be of a higher status or class. I chose to go with just a singular artist as to break the mould of the rise in girl bands/boy bands seen in the last 2 years. I have chose to go with a serious facial expression on the cover and a more informal smiley expression on the double page spread as it shows the serious side to my artist, but the happier expression breaks up the formality and makes it more inviting to read for the reader, and makes the photo more interesting on the double page spread.
