How to Make a Pocket Journal

Visit any DC Public Library. Get a library card, if you dont already have one.

Fold your text pages in half one by one using a ruler to get neatly folded spines. Fold the covers in half.

Look around the library to find inspiring books, DVDs, audiobooks, and CDs. Check them out!

Put 12 text pages inside a cover. Trim the edges of the text pages so they line up evenly inside the cover.

Go home and peruse your library materials for design inspiration and project ideas.

Staple the outside of the journal in two places along the spine.

Get 12 sheets of 8.5x11 in. paper. Cut them in half to get 24 text pages that will be 8.5x5.5 in.

Repeat steps 7-8 with the other set of text pages and the other cover.

Get one sheet of 8.5x11 in. cardstock. Cut it in half to get 2 cover pieces that will be 8.5x5.5 in.

10.

Get inspired by your library materials. Decorate the covers & add a bookplate. Give a journal to a friend.

Visit the library. Find inspiration. Get creative.

Inside the other journal, get creative by writing and sketching ideas. Put the journal in your pocket.

Go back to your DC Public Library. Repeats steps 23 and join The Creative Class!
