Opinion related to Culturally Conditioned Verbalization We believe that it is Indonesian culture to apology in every possible circumstance to show respect, while it will be strange for western people. Another example we can come up is the way people answer to yes/no question. When Indonesian want to reject an offer, they will say yes but convey the opposite meaning. A: Kamu mau kue? (Do you want some cookies?) B: Ya, terima kasih nanti saja. (Yes, thank you but later.) Mostly, Indonesian apply this concept in English conversation that cause grammar error. A: Dont you like fried chicken? (Tidak kah kamu suka ayam goreng?) B: Yes, I dont like fried chicken. (Ya, saya tidak suka ayam)
