ABSTRACT

Wax Plant Unit is often fail and to decrease product because fail operaton the Ammonia Condenser that is heat exchanger equipment in dewaxing process. It has function for cooling the hot fluid of ammonia after compression and then to use as a coolant in chiller. And coolant fluid for ammonia is sea water. Ammonia is fluid to shell side in condenser and sea water is fluid in tube side. The Problem in condenser is leaking in front of and back of tube side and no easy to prepare and get it for changing the tube, because it is bimetal tube type where is consist of two different metal. Inside is Copper Nickel and outside is Carbon Steel. To solve the problem, we do Redesign tube bundle by change the bimetal tube type to single tube type where the single tube type can be hold the corrosivity of ammonia and sea water. So we choose the single tube type is Stainless Steel SAF 2507 to change the bimetal tube type. As a result from calculation in heat constant , we need 888 pcs only single tube type stainless steel SAF 2507 compare 836 pcs bimetal tube type and from the calculation the fouling factor is 0,0039 for stainless steel SAF 2507 is more economics than bimetal tube type is 0,0037. And the economic aspect, we need 2.33 year to buy back the cost for making tube bundle with stainless steel SAF 2507.
