Priestly Account of Creation Story is similar to Enuma Elish (Mesopotamian Story) The first three days, God created the physical world, on the last three days God created living creatures. THEMES OF THE PRIESTLY ACCOUNT OF CREATION

1. ORDER

God the source of order and harmony

Creation is a movement from chaos to order and harmony

The role of human beings in relation to the earth they inhabit.

The man and woman created by God reflects the divine nature and thus they should make creation more meaningful and fruitful.

3. Blessing

GENESIS 1

God gave the man and woman the dominion over the earth: Be fertile and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it.(Gen.1:28) Being created in the image and likeness of God, we are His co-creators and partners In sustaining the order and harmony of His creation.

GENESIS 2
God wants us to exercise RESPONSIBLE STEWARDSHIP OVER HIS CREATION

God says in Genesis 2:18: It is not good for the person to be alone. This means that God wants us to build a community where there is harmonious relationships with one another.

CREATION IN THE NEW TESTAMENT

Creation as REDEMPTION JESUS CHRIST redeemed the world through his Passion, Death and Resurrection on the Cross

Creation is not only material creation but creation of a new Human person

A more humane and fraternal world is more important than material progress (Vatican II)
