WHAT IS YOUR DREAM JOB?

Have you ever worked a job that you really disliked?


If you were going to work everyday just for a paycheck, it is likely that you were not very happy in that job.

Identifying things you have done in past jobs that you liked and disliked will help you begin to develop an idea of the right type of job for you.
Identifying things you dislike may very well be in the interview questions.

You may NOT know what you want to do however, identifying these can get you started on your own pathway to success.

What do you think would be your ideal job? All of us have things in our life that we enjoy and things that we do not. Part of being successful in any job is choosing a job for you that will utilize your individual strengths.

NOT JUST A JOB, BUT A CAREER

If you were asked what sort of work would you like to do would you say anything? Are you really looking for anything, or are you looking to get a job right now that will get you by until you find the job you really want? Your ideal job is not somehow closer to you tomorrow, than it is today.

This could be your opportunity to begin the path to your ideal career.

The questions you answer will indicate what kind of person you are.

If you are someone who loves to talk and help people, becoming an accountant may not serve you well.
On the other hand, if you prefer a quiet environment and enjoy working with numbers and lawsthat might be your perfect fit! Everyone is unique and there is not one job that fits all. Finding out who you are will help you be successful at the job that best fits you!

You will also need to explore what level of skills you possess and/or need to GET the job. There are different assessments that will help you to determine what comes next. Furthering your education is a fantastic way to improve your employability and raise your standard of pay, but WHICH training right for you? Not everyone needs to attend a four year college, sometimes a community college, vocational school or even a training program that will give a certification is the best way to meet the requirements you need and help to get you placed into the industry you desire.

One of the best ways to ensure financial stability and success is to continue your education beyond high school No matter what program or school you choose, Getting an Education IS the greatest gift in the world you can give to YOURSELF and your FAMILY You can get more education at ANY stage of life. You dont have to be a traditional aged student People often return to school as adults to learn new things and improve there employability the only thing constant in life is change

IT PAYS TO BE EDUCATED

A high school graduate on average earns 40% more than a person without a high school diploma or GED. A vocational or technical school graduate earns roughly 80% more than someone who does not have a high school diploma or GED. A four-year college graduate earns 75% more than a high school graduate and 2.5 times what someone who does not have a high school diploma or GED.

HOW DO I GET THERE?

This is where the planning begins If you have found a career that you would like to pursue what do you do? You need to know where you are to plan out where you want to go Do you need more skills or training? If so, enroll in courses that will give you the skills or training that you need.

Do you have the financial means established to support yourself and your family while you are in school? Do you know what type of education you are looking for? Do you know what the average pay is for someone working in that field? Have you identified barriers that may come up if you go to school and thought about how you might deal with them?

CHOOSING THE RIGHT SCHOOL


Does you school provide the hours that you need? Does your school provide internship or job placement assistance? Is your school accredited? Meaning, do the credits that you earn at the school you are attending, transfer to other accredited institutions?

Everyone has obstacles in their life that can make it more difficult to achieve their dreams.

Before beginning any new path to success it is important to have all the resources needed established first, so that success is more than just a possibility.
Success becomes reality.

ESTABLISHING YOUR RESOURCES

Where do you start? - Start with the resources that you have in place. It may help to make a list of your resources. Ask yourself: Are all of my family needs being met by the resources that I have in place? - If the answer is no, meet with a program representative. They may be able to assist you with getting in touch with the people or resources that you need.

CHILD CARE
Do you have your child care established? Child care can become a huge barrier when you are trying to work to achieve a new goal. You need to PLAN and find childcare that your are comfortable with, NOW.

If you are comfortable with your childcare you will be more comfortable with everything you are doing.
If you are constantly worried about your children, it will be that much more difficult to concentrate on any goals that you have set for yourself.

CHILD CARE ASSISTANCE

Coordinated Child Care (CCC) provides childcare assistance at low cost or pro-rated cost to families with children in the household under the age of thirteen.

If you are eligible for assistance, then you will be able to chose a provider in your county that accepts CCC and enroll your child in a day-care or after-care program that supports YOU and your family successfully reaching your goals.

COORDINATED CHILD CARE

To begin using CCC, you need to go to the CCC office located nearest to you Apply for an abstainer with them or bring a referral from another agency CCC would then give you a list of day care providers in your area

Research the child care providers and chose the one that best serves you and your family

CRIMINAL BACKGROUND AND YOUR SUCCESS

If you have a criminal background it could have a huge impact on the choices that are available to you in your search for the ideal career

If you have a criminal background it is important to make sure that you will be able to be employed in the career you choose
A good place to start is to check your own criminal background

CHECKING YOUR OWN BACKGROUND

Go to your states correction offender network Floridas site: www.dc.state.fl.us

State wide searches only bring up offenses committed in that state


Free background checks are another alternative, but these searches are limited Free site: www.criminalrecords.com Employers are going to go after more detail

Positive Attitude
One of the single most important factors in achieving success is attitude Employees who are positive are promoted more often than their negative co-workers with equal or less skill sets A positive attitude will bring you more opportunities in the long run
