Las Vegas, NV 89178 CCSD Human Resources: Having recently graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in dual language, I am interested in applying for a teaching position in grades K-5. I earned my degree from Nevada State College in May 2013 and graduated as a Summa Cum Laude. I feel equipped for this position and ready to utilize my knowledge and skills that I have gained so that I can contribute effectively to the Clark County School District. My resume is enclosed for your review. I recently completed student teaching at Laura Dearing Elementary School. Throughout student teaching and work as an undergrad, I have learned how to differentiate my instruction to meet the needs of various learners. I also learned how to engage students in learning, use many different Kagan strategies, implement TPR (Total Physical Response), use DOK questioning strategies, and learned how to implement the Components of an Effective Lesson in my lesson plans. Being that Laura Dearing Elementary is one of seven dual language schools, I gained an abundance of experience in working with a high population of ELL students. Attending and hosting extracurricular activities, such as Literacy Night for Nevada Reading Week, also helped me develop a strong relationship and rapport with not only the students, but the parents as well. In addition, I have gained experience in interpersonal skills through working for an orthodontist for seven years. The experiences that I received while at this job also gave me a chance to make a difference in childrens lives. I educated children and their parents regarding the childs orthodontic plans, while generating excitement for them. The enthusiasm that I have in working with children and their parents has always been evident in my work. I have shown care and concern for the children and their parents and as an educator, I will do the same. Holding this job, and putting myself through school to become a teacher has helped me learn to multi-task, prioritize my time efficiently, and be dependable. I would deeply appreciate the opportunity to discuss my qualifications with you. I believe that teachers should be lifelong learners, in order to always research and find more ways that they can better meet the needs of students. After all, effective teachers are never satisfied and always have a concern for the childs educational well-being. I will be proactive in being a lifelong learner to benefit my students in the best way I possibly can. Thank you for your consideration. Respectfully yours, Grisel Weight
