Primary Resources
Books
Baird, Julia, and Geoffrey Giuliano.John Lennon, My Brother. New York: Henry Holt and, 1988. Print.

The book listed above was written by John Lennons sister. Baird provides a valuable inside source of knowledge. The author sums up her story in this quote located on the back cover of the book, His emergence as the man the rest of the world knew was so gradual that we were never shocked into thinking, Weve got a superstar in the family. We used the book to understand the perspective of a member from his personal life and even more so, a member of his family life.

Harrison, George and Taylor, Derek.I, Me, Mine. San Francisco: Chronicle, 2002. Print.

I, Me, Mine features notes and pictures of and by the Beatles. Narrated by George Harrison, this book is as close to an autobiography as it gets. Harrison unveils the story of much of his lifes mysteries and untold story. Derek Taylor, the Beatles spokesman, also writes notes on the first section of the book. This

book is an invaluable resource to our project; not only is it a great primary resource, the book also provides otherwise unattainable facts.

Kane, Larry. Ticket to Ride: Inside the Beatles' 1964 Tour That Changed the World. Philadelphia, PA: Running Book, 2003. Print.

Ticket to Ride is an eye grabbing, first hand story of the Beatles 1964 tour that marked a turning point in American culture. This book was written by Larry Kane, the only American journalist in the official Beatles press group in 1964-1969. Kane describes his journey on the road with the Beatles from all out Beatlemania, being attacked by swarms of fans, to traveling with the stars. In the book, he describes many occasions that the Beatles were plagued by an onslaught of fans, sometimes nearly fatal.

Miles, Barry. Paul McCartney: Many Years from Now. First Owl Books ed. New York: H. Holt and, 1998. Print.

The book listed above is a primary resource because it is based on, and contains, hundreds of hours of interviews which took place over a period of five years by the books author, Barry Miles. These quotes from interviews had great influence on our views of Paul McCartney. By reading this book we were better able to write our website.

Sis, Peter. The Wall: Growing up behind the Iron Curtain. New York: Farrar, Straus and Giroux, 2007. Print.

This book is written by Peter Ss, a man who grew up behind the Iron Curtain. He describes the impact the Beatles had on his life. While his creativity was discouraged, it could not be killed or put out due to his inner desire which was greatly sparked by the Beatles. The book gives examples and primary documents of how the Beatles music impacted the entire world.

Interviews
Lennon, John. "John Lennon: A Shorn Beatle Tries It On His Own." Interview by Leonard Gross and Douglas Kirkland.Look 19 Dec. 1966: n. pag. Print. What a goldmine! This Interview with John Lennon was taken by an editor of Look magazine in 1966. It is about John Lennons time as an actor in the film How I Won the War and how the movie was created. We used the interview to better our knowledge of John Lennon and write part of the website.

"How the Beatles Changed the World: An Interview with Steven D. Stark." Interview. The Rutherford Institute.N.p., 30 Nov. 2005. Web. 29 Mar. 2013. <https://www.rutherford.org/publications_resources/oldspeak/how_the_beatl es_changed_the_world_an_interview_with_steven_d_stark>.

This website contains an interview between John W. Whitehead and Steven D. Stark, a well known writer and the author of Meet the Beatles. In this interview, we read the dialogue of two Beatles experts discussing the Beatles impact on American Culture. The interview fits like a puzzle piece into our project; it is very relative to our topic and thoroughly discusses the Beatles as a Turning Point in American history.

Interview.Beatles Interviews.N.p., n.d. Web. <http://www.beatlesinterviews.org/db1964.0100.beatles.html>.

In this interview with the Beatles, they are asked about the beginnings of the band. Through reading this interview we were able to discover the history of the Beatles early days and formation directly from the Beatles themselves. The Beatles are also asked about their fashion during a discussion about the design of their jackets. We utilized a direct quote from the interview in our website to illustratethe that the Beatles influenced people to dress differently.

Interview.Beatles Interviews.N.p., n.d. Web. <http://www.beatlesinterviews.org/db1964.0614b.beatles.html>.

This humorous interview is a transcribed press conference with the Beatles. The Beatles discussed their concerts and whether they thought about them. The Beatles fans were so loud at the concerts that people couldnt hear the music. It is assumed that the fans would come just to see the Beatles. The overwhelming attendance

of the concertsby young people is an example of the bands importance and the immense influence it exerted over its fans.

"The Beatles Interview."Interview.The Beatles Ultimate Experience.N.p., n.d. Web. 1 Apr. 2013. <http://www.beatlesinterviews.org/db1964.0100.beatles.html>.

In this interview with the Beatles, John Lennon and George Harrison comment on their reasons for no longer touring. The fan noise and screaming had become so loud that the band members were not able to hear the music they were playing. The performances had degraded to the point that the band would go on stage and act like they were playing instruments and performing the music. This removed a great deal of the bands enjoyment from the touring. Additionally, the Beatles were still working on new music and practicing old at the same time as touring. Therefore they were extremely busy and began to get mentally drained.

Newspapers
"300 Beatle Fans Taken to Hospital."Houston Post.N.p., 8 Apr. 2012. Web. 1 Apr. 2013. <http://thefab4dozen.blogspot.com/2012/08/theconstructing-of-beatlemania.html>.

This is a picture of a newspaper which shows its article title as 300 Beatle Fans Taken to Hospital. We loved how well this illustrated

the magnitude of Beatlemania; it did not only consist of screaming fans, in some cases, it caused harm.

""Beatlemania" Sweeps U.S." Special Beatles Issue: National Record News. N.p., 8 Apr. 2012. Web. 1 Apr. 2013. <http://thefab4dozen.blogspot.com/2012/08/the-constructing-ofbeatlemania.html>.

This photo illustrates that the Beatles caused change in American culture during their time period and by doing so, greatly affected our culture today. Beatlemania wasnt something that was just going through a city or state; it swept across the entire United States and the world.

"Beatles Here!"SLSA.N.p., n.d. Web. <http://www.slsa.sa.gov.au/exhibitions/boland/eventOz1964.htm>. This article from the News, an Australian newspaper, details the arrival of the Beatles to Australia. The reception in Australia was the biggest one they would ever receive, with 300,000 people lining the streets of South Australia just to see the Beatles. Thats about a third of the regions total population.

"Beatles,MBE!" Beatles News.N.p., n.d. Web. <http://www.beatlesnews.com/blog/the-beatles/200806121151/today-inbeatles-history-beatles-named-to-the-mbe.html>.

On June 12, 1965, it was announced that the Beatles had been named the MBE, Members of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire. The prime minister of Britain chose the Beatles for this honor because he believed that the Beatles were changing the countrys youth in a good way. He felt that they helped keep kids off the streets, and introduced a lot of young people to new music.

"Beatles on TV Wow America."Newseum.N.p., n.d. Web. <http://www.newseum.org/news/2009/02/ss-images-beatles/3992.jpg>. The newspaper article cited above is from the newspaper The Daily Mirror. The article discusses the arrival of the Beatles to New York City and the resulting frenzy. It then goes on to describe the Beatles performance on the Ed Sullivan Show. Americans were riveted by the performance, and they wanted to see and hear more from the band.

"How Does a Beatle Live? John Lennon Lives Like This." Static.N.p., n.d. Web. <http://static.guim.co.uk/sysimages/Guardian/Pix/pictures/2008/11/24/1227536065555/lennon2.jpg>. This newspaper article is from the time period of the Beatles; therefore, we considered it to be a primary resource. The article describes life as a member of the Beatles. The Beatles were considered to be top news; their fans thought every move they made was interesting, nearly to the point of obsession. Due to their fans interest in the Beatles every move, the Beatles had enormous influence on the American culture.

"Yeah, Yeah, Yeah,- Beatles Hit Vegas." Tony Bramwell. N.p., n.d. Web. <http://www.tonybramwell.com/bramwell+news2.html>.

We thought this newspaper headline fit well into our slide show on the home page of our website. The newspaper balances the slide show by filling it with pictures of many topics to present a nice overview of our website. We considered this source primary because it is a newspaper article from the time period of our topic.

Beatlemania. 1964. Photograph. The Telegraph.Web. 29 Mar. 2013. <http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/music/thebeatles/8137088/Beatles-picture-special.html?image=9>.

This website contained a picture of women in an intense, fancrazed frenzy over the Beatles. This type of craze came to be known as Beatlemania. The photograph clearly illustrates the extremism of Beatlemania and how the Beatles brought about a turning point in American culture.

Beatlemania.N.D. Photograph.Groveloejer.dk. Web. 29 Mar. 2013. <http://www.groveloejer.dk/sangild/musik/>.

We decided this picture would fit well on our home page because it gives the viewer a close up photo of the band members. We placed it in the slideshow at the beginning of the website just above our

thesis statement. The picture is of the four Beatles band members smiling for a generic picture. Being from the time period of the Beatles and of the Beatles, we considered this picture to be a primary resource.

Beatlemania.N.D. Photograph.The FAB 4 Dozen.8 Apr. 2012. Web. 29 Mar. 2013. <http://thefab4dozen.blogspot.com/2012/08/theconstructing-of-beatlemania.html>.

We were once told, A picture tells a thousand words. This photograph is a perfect example; it illustrates the turning point in Americas culture that took place in the 50s, 60s, and 70s. The Beatles had an enormous impact on Americas culture. When they did something, it was almost always mirrored by Americas youths.

Beatles Abby Road. 1969. Photograph. NPR Music. 24 Sept. 2004. Web. 29 Mar. 2013. <http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php? storyId=3935039>. From the site above we used a photo of all the Beatles walking across the street. This photo was significant because it was used in the Beatles album, Abby Road, which was filmed in Londons Abby Road Studios. Abby Road was the last album the Beatles made, marking the end of a remarkable season of music creation.

Beatles and Women's Rights. 1964. Photograph. Web. 1 Apr. 2013. <http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-

Bpf4JMAN25I/TeVFh_3TVjI/AAAAAAAAHOs/KJGlPophyYI/s640/Beatles+fa shion.jpg>.

This photograph shows women wearing dresses covered with printed photos of the Beatles faces. This is a perfect example of how the Beatles changed fashion; whatever was of the Beatles was in style. People loved and adored the Beatles to the point where they would even dress like them or dress in anything Beatlesrelated.

Beatles Fan Gets On Stage. 1964. Photograph. The Beatles HistoryMusic-Culture-Events.Web. 29 Mar. 2013. <http://history2.absoluteelsewhere.net/June/june27.html>.

From this website we were able to obtain a picture of a girl trying to get on the stage at a Beatles concert. In the photo, a member of the security team is keeping her from getting to the Beatles, who are continuing in whatever song they were singing at the time. This photo is one of our favorites because it shows the craze that was brought about by Beatlemania and how it was a turning point in American history. Americas youth changed from the proper, reserved type during the Second World War to the rebellious and passionate type during the sixties and early seventies.

Beatles Fans.N.d. Photograph. Web. 1 Apr. 2013. <http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/02392/Beatlesfans_2392590b.jpg>.

The above site is the source for a fantastic picture of enthusiastic female Beatles fans holding signs. One says, We love Beatles, with the Beatles smiling faces on it and being held by two girls who seemed to be enthralled with what they are looking at. Another sign says, Paul, and is being held by an excitedly screaming young woman. The picture clearly shows the Beatles influence on the youth and culture of the 1960s.

Beatles Fans Read. N.d. Photograph. The FAB 4 Dozen. 8 Apr. 2012. Web. 29 Mar. 2013. <http://thefab4dozen.blogspot.com/2012/08/theconstructing-of-beatlemania.html>.

The picture we secured from this source shows two female Beatles fans whoare looking at a book about the Beatles. We thought this illustrated the fact that people changed the way they lived because of the Beatles. People searched for the Beatles words and opinions and changed their own outlook (mental and physical) to match that of the Beatles. Many would say that the Beatles only affected females but that is untrue. As shown in this picture, women searched for information about the Beatles. In doing this they also searched for men with similar attributes to the Beatles. Young men changed their appearance to coincide with the Beatles. In conclusion, to say the least, the Beatles were a secondary cause to the common mans change in appearance and outlook in that time era.

Beatles in Press Conference.N.D. Photograph.The FAB 4 Dozen. 8 Apr. 2012. Web.29 Mar. 2013. <http://thefab4dozen.blogspot.com/2012/08/the-constructing-ofbeatlemania.html>.

The picture above shows the all the members of the Beatles at a press conference. The Beatles often made statements in similar scenarios to the one shown in the picture which included their opinion on topics such as civil rights and the Vietnam War. By sharing their opinion on these largely disputed topics, the Beatles influenced the beliefs and opinions of all who heard, which happened to be most of the country.

Beatles in the Studio.N.d. Photograph. Web. 1 Apr. 2013. <http://palabrasdealgodon.files.wordpress.com/2012/10/20aa3143f.jpg >. This picture shows the Beatles while they were recording one of their many popular albums. All of the members of the band seem to be looking at John Lennon, who was usually the leader of the group and was the most outspoken about his beliefs.

Fanatic Beatles Fans.N.d. Photograph. Fan Pop. Web. 1 Apr. 2013. <http://images5.fanpop.com/image/photos/29200000/Beatle-Fans-thebeatles-29223552-320-268.jpg>.

The women in this picture are obviously very die-hard Beatles Fans; they have a banner that says, Beatles please stay here forever. The banner has a picture of each member of the Beatles on each corner of the page with the members name beside it. This clearly shows the influence the Beatles had on people, specifically women of that time period.

Fan Hugs George Harrison. N.D. Photograph.Last.fm. 28 Oct. 2009. Web. 29 Mar. 2013. <http://www.lastfm.es/music/George+Harrison/ +images/37003089>.

We used this photo to illustrate the magnitude of the Beatles popularity. The Beatles were loved so much that just being around them seemed like a dream. Their music, clothing, hair, and opinions were at the top of the priority list for most people of the time period. It was a radical change from prim and proper values of the 1940s to obsession over a band.

George Harrison. N.D. Photograph. 16 June 2006. Web. 29 Mar. 2013. <http://www.lastfm.es/music/George+Harrison/+images/160132>.

In the photograph of George Harrison, he is sitting on a couch, relaxed with a guitar in his hands, fine tuning it. This picture shows an example of how the Beatles spent their off time while they were on tour: they were almost always working with their music. The picture is on our biography page that tells a summary of the History of the Beatles.

George Harrison. N.D. Photograph.TopNews.in. 9 May 2011. Web. 29 Mar. 2013. <http://www.topnews.in/light/people/george-harrison>.

We used this picture of George Harrison on the slideshow that is located on the home page of our website. The picture is a small piece to the entire slide show; however, the slideshow is an important visual element that starts the website in a way that grabs the viewers attention. The website also includes a short biography about George Harrison.

Infuriated Fan Couldn't See the Beatles. N.D. Photograph.The Beatles' Influence.Web. 29 Mar. 2013. <http://rynn.free.fr/influence.php>.

We found this picture of a Beatles fan rather humorous. The photographer beautifully captures the moment when a police officer is blocking a girl from getting to the Beatles. The girl is, to put it lightly, not taking it well. She is crying and seems to be throwing a complete fit in front of the world. The girl seems to be lifting her hand in a fist, possibly even about to strike the police officer. John Lennon and Yoko Ono.N.d. Photograph. Media Tumblr. Web. 1 Apr. 2013. <http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lrmhnh9Eqp1qewyvmo1_500.jpg >

John Lennon and Yoko Ono wouldnt always shout and rally people, sometimes, as shown in the picture; they would peacefully stand against war and violence. However, when a member of the Beatles stood on a street corner, people would stop to hear what he had to say. The Beatles symbolized far more than just music that was enjoyed and appreciated by millions of people. Their influence swayed the hearts of Americans and sparked a turning point for American culture.

John Lennon and Yoko Ono.N.d. Photograph. Web. 1 Apr. 2013. <http://onpoint.wbur.org/files/2011/10/1004_lennon_crop500x313.jpg>.

The picture of John Lennon and Yoko Ono cited above is used in our website to illustrate the Beatles opinion of the Vietnam War. John Lennon and Yoko Ono are standing, speaking for peace in the picture. By speaking out, the Beatles rallied all who felt similarlyabout the war. Once the Beatles spoke out in public for peace (and against war), a light turned on inside many young Americans. People felt peace was attainable and this led them to rally together for what they believed in. War protests and marches followed. The Beatles were very outspoken with their opinion and when they spoke, if only due to their popularity, people listened. That caused the idea of peace to spread fluidly throughout the United States and beyond.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Shea Stadium. 1965. Photograph. TheNational. 15 Aug. 2010. Web.29 Mar. 2013. <http://www.thenational.ae/artsculture/music/ladies-and-gentlemen-shea-stadium>.

The picture which we got from thenational.ae is of Shea Stadium in New York. When the Beatles played at Shea Stadium, it was an unprecedented event. Never before had a band played in a stadium because it was not thought that that many people would show up to watch a concert. Yet, not only did the Beatles fill Shea Stadium, but the ticketssold out in less than a day and attendance records were set that wouldnt be broken for a long time. In the picture there are many fans in the background cheering and it appears that the band just finished a song because one of the band members is holding his hands in the air. We used the picture at the beginning of our band biography page in order to focus the viewers attention on the band members themselves.

Paul McCartney Gets a Hair Cutt. N.d. Photograph. Web. 1 Apr. 2013. <http://uploads.neatorama.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/BeatlesHaircut-1.jpg>.

Paul McCartney gets a haircut in this photo. We used this to illustrate how the Beatles had a different style of hair that became a much more prominent style after they made it their own. The Beatles hair style is a great example of how the Beatles were influencers on fashion.

Policemen in Beatlemania. Photograph. The Beatles Twist and Shout. Web. 29 Mar. 2013. <http://www.agitclub.ru/singout/lennon/beatles01.htm>.

We used this photograph on the main slideshow of our website. The picture shows fans trying to get by police to the Beatles and the police trying, with great difficulty, to keep the fans from breaking through. It clearly illustrates how extremely dramatic Beatlemania really was. Beatlemania marked a turning point in the actions and values of young people. Rubber Soul. 1965. Photograph. My Guitar Solo.Web. 1 Apr. 2013. <http://www.myguitarsolo.com/new/sites/default/files/styles/large/publi c/field/image/005BeatlesRubberSoul.jpg>.

The picture is of the Beatles sixth album cover Rubber Soul. The album Rubber Soul was recorded in just four weeks in order to make the Christmas market and released on December 3, 1965. Unlike their other albums, this one was recorded from start to finish without breaking for a tour or other project.

Screaming Beatles Fans.N.d. Photograph. Feminspire. 9 Sept. 2012. Web. 30 Mar. 2013. <http://feminspire.com/my-secret-obsession-with-onedirection/screaming-beatles-fans11/>.

The primary source listed above is a picture of Beatles fans acting with complete insanity. The fans are in whole hearted awe of the

Beatles. The woman on whichthe photo focuses holds her hands by her face ecstatically. We considered this a primary resource because it was a picture from the time period of our topic. The photo was used on the primary slideshow of the website to illustrate the content and cause visual impact of our website title.

The Beatles-1963. 1963. Photograph. Comunity Center For the Arts. Web. 29 Mar. 2013. <http://c-4a.org/summer-camps/band-camps-rock-blues-andbluegrass- weeks/beatles-week/the-beatles-1963-at-beatl-001-2>.

The Beatles are pictured in an unorthodox pose in this photo; however, the Beatles were never very orthodox. They shook the world with their appearance and views. The actions and beliefs of the Beatles were mirrored by all who heard their message. The members of the band are pictured jumping in the air at the same time. Since this picture was of the band members and of the time period, we considered it a primary document.

The Beatles. 1969. Photograph. 14 Feb. 2012. Web. 29 Mar. 2013. <http://neuewerbung.org/selbstaktualisierung>.

The picture shows the Beatles, with their long hair and revolutionary idealism, looking relaxed and leaning against a car. By looking and acting different, the Beatles turned the culture of America upside down. Pop-culture has always had influence over people, but never before had any pop-culture been so different from the mainstream society or so out-spoken about their beliefs.

The Beatles. 1962. Photograph. Oracle Thinkquest.Web. 29 Mar. 2013. <http://library.thinkquest.org/21342/beatles.htm>. The picture which is in this citation shows the Beatles performing after they came to America. When the Beetles set foot on American soil, they were seen as the pinnacle of the pop culture. Every move they made was followed by reporters and when they started sharing their opinions regarding controversial topics, fans began to mirror everything they did. They were simply the most popular and most impacting band in known history.

The Beatles Album Lonely Hearts. 1967. Photograph. Block CDN. Web. 1 Apr. 2013. <http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2008/10/beatles103 008.jpg>.

The album cover shown cited above is the Beatles eighth album called Lonely Hearts, often referred to as, Sgt. Pepper. During recording this album, the Beatles improved the quality of their musical production as well as experimented with new recording techniques. The album cover itself was inspired by a sketch that Paul McCartney drew and designed by Peter Blake and Jann Haworth, two English pop artists.

The Beatles and Little Richard.N.d. Photograph. Web. 1 Apr. 2013. <http://thegrio.files.wordpress.com/2011/09/little_richard-and-thebeatles.jpg?w=300&h=168&crop=1>.

We used the photograph of the Beatles and Little Richard to illustrate and give an example of the Beatles opinion of civil rights. Not only did they oppose segregation, they defied it in every way they could. The Beatles made a stand for the rights of African Americans and gave them hope for future respect and equality among other Americans.

The Beatles and Muhammad Ali.N.d. Photograph. Beatles Bible.Web. 1 Apr. 2013. <http://www.beatlesbible.com/wp/media/640218_beatlescassius-clay_01.jpg>.

In the picture cited above, the Beatles are with Muhammad Ali, then known as Cassius Clay. In the photograph, they are all in a joking pose acting as if Muhammad Ali is punching them all in one hit and they are all leaning over. A social event where the Beatles were shown being that comfortable around an African American man in the 60s was a huge departure from the established mainstream American culture. This was because at this time period racism was very common and segregation was everywhere. The Beatles challenged and changed American thought and attitudes.

The Beatles at Shea Stadium. 1965. Photograph. Web. 1 Apr. 2013. <http://i0.wp.com/listverse.com/wpcontent/uploads/2012/10/beatles.jpg?resize=550%2C364>.

This photograph shows the Beatles playing at Shea Stadium August 15, 1965-the record breaking, and history making, concert. Before the Beatles, no band had the popularity to fill a place that large. However, the Beatles not only filled, it but filled it within a few hours.

The Beatles First Studio Recording. 1962. Photograph. BBC News Magazine. 15 June 2012. Web. 29 Mar. 2013. <http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-18449107>.

The photograph above was used to illustrate the violence and war page on our website. It shows a couple of the band members rehearsing in their first studio recording 1962, soon after they added their fourth member, and drummer, Ringo Star. By using this picture we were able to increase the visual look of our website.

The Beatles.N.d. Photograph. Music Wallpapers. 5 Oct. 2012. Web. 29 Mar. 2013. <http://musicwalls.org/the_beatles_wallpaper_3wallpapers.html>.

In the picture listed above, the Beatles are posing in a normal manner. We thought this was a very attractive picture of the

Beatles. It shows the Beatles in a calm, simplistic state that is very eye appealing; therefore, we used it on the main slideshow of our website.

The Beatles.N.d. Photograph. The Beatles Bible.Web. 1 Apr. 2013. <http://www.beatlesbible.com/wp/media/621027_beatles-monty-lister580x415.jpg>.

In this photograph the Beatles are standing in a room with a couple of other men. The picture is actually of the Beatles first radio interview. Radio at the time was one of the main ways people heard the Beatles music at the time. It is ironically so, because the Beatles songs were many times three, four, or five minutes long and AM radio cut songs off after a minute and a half. The Beatles are a large part of the reason why FM radio now plays music and AM radio is primarily talk shows.

The Beatles.N.d. Photograph. Web. 1 Apr. 2013. <http://oncampus.macleans.ca/education/wpcontent/uploads/2009/03/beatles.jpg>

In this photograph, the Beatles are posing for a pleasant picture. We liked that this picture showed the simple side of the Beatles. They were more than just famous pop-culture members; they were individuals who used their influence to turn the face of American Culture in the way that they believed was right.

The Beatles' No Segregation Contract.N.d. Photograph. Twenty Two Words.Web. 1 Apr. 2013. <http://cdn.twentytwowords.com/wpcontent/uploads/Beatles-contract-stipulating-no-segregation.jpg>.

The contract the Beatles signed saying they wouldnt play at concerts that were segregated is one of our favorite documents. It is extremely valuable to our research because it proves that the all the Beatles made a decision not to allow segregation in their concerts. They did what many people should do when they believe in something; they simply disconnect themselves from participating in anything related to what they believed was wrong. By doing this they not only changed what would happen while they were around, but they also spread the idealism that segregation was wrong. When the Beatles believed in something or didnt believe in something, their fans were impacted by, and in most cases, began to share those same beliefs.

The Beatles.N.d. Photograph. Web. 1 Apr. 2013. <http://wac.450f.edgecastcdn.net/80450F/ultimateclassicrock.com/file s/2011/08/Beatles1.jpg>.

This is a very relaxed picture of the Beatles in their earlier years in the United States. The Beatles are huddled up in a friendly pose while Ringo Star rests his arms on two of the other band members shoulders and gives the camera man thumbs up. The band member

to the left of Ringo Star is Paul McCartney who is also giving a thumb up.

The Beatles Shea Stadium Flyer. 1965. Photograph. Web. 1 Apr. 2013. <http://erisingny.tripod.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/she a11_ads.jpg>.

In the flyer for the Beatles concert at Shea Stadium, a sketch of the Beatles is included with an offer to come see them in person. It lists seat prices at $4.50-$5.75. We thought this was a primary resource that contributed greatly to our website and bibliography.

The Beatles Stand for Peace. N.d. Photograph. Web. 1 Apr. 2013. <http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_sPNpQ1uTNNU/Se5pwfm0D0I/AAAAAAAABE U/kwvMpj3CwLU/s400/BeatlesAllYouNeedIsLove.jpg>.

Every member of the Beatles was against violence. The previous statement is beautifully illustrated by the picture cited above. The picture shows the Beatles each holding a sign that says, Love is all you need, in four different languages, a sign of a different language on each Beatles member. In standing for peace the Beatles caused the Vietnam War to become the first war which the general tone of the United States public was against the war.

Videos
Beatles Fans Get Interviewed. Youtube.N.p., 31 May 2008. Web. 1 Apr. 2013. <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SL8MsovP0y8>.

While the teen-aged girls get interviewed in this film they are very excited about the incoming chance to see the Beatles. We edited this film and split it into two parts, one going on the fashion page of our website, the other going on social issues page of our website. The part that we used on the fashion page shows women not dressing in the customary attire of the time for a female: a dress. The part of the video that went on our social issues page showed an example of teen-aged women disobeying their parents to go to a Beatles concerts. This gets to the meat of our site with the fact that Beatles caused a turning point in American culture.

In this video the Beatles perform for the first time on the Ed Sullivan Show. Fans are screaming and it would be impossible to hear the music had it not been for video editing. In fact in all of the concerts that the Beatles did fans would scream so loud that the music could not be heard. For televising and records purposes, the songs were played over their voices so the music could be heard. We thought this was a great way to point out the mania that occurred with the Beatles.

This video is our favorite videos of all the ones we saw. It shows screaming fans, mostly females, but many males as well. The Beatles enter after Ed Sullivan gives his great introduction that would later become famous. We posted this video on the musical industry page of our website because this was something that had never before been done. No band had filled a stadium and we wanted get as close as we could to showing the viewer of our website the way it really happened.
