Jennifer Lewis Visual Essay April 3, 2013 Technology allows for videos and pictures to be instantaneously uploaded to social

media sites. My visual essay begins with a video of this woman dancing in the lobby of a hotel in Puerto Rico. My friends and I took a liking to the way she danced and decided to take videos and dance with her throughout the night. My visual essay attempts to display the ease of sharing the videos to the public world via Facebook, Twitter and the internet. I supported the argument by way of showing other texts and pictures that were posted to the internet. In the visual essay are statistics from "State of the media: The social media report 2012". Featured Insights, Global, Media + Entertainment. Nielsen. Retrieved 9 December 2012. regarding internet usage and other facts in order to further prove the importance of the internet. The amount of internet usage was surprising which is why I decided to put them in the essay. The song playing throughout the visual essay is called You Should Know Better by Andy Grammar and I felt as though the title and lyrics connects technology and social media. Most often the pictures and videos plastered across the internet are of things embarrassing people did and a bystander happened to take a video of it, hence the title. The lyrics are about a love story, which exemplifies the relationship between the two. I feel as though the beats of the song coincide perfectly with the transitions throughout the essay.
