HOUSTON MAN SENTENCED TO 20 YEARS IN PRISON FOR THEFT Bryan, Texas-Robert Jones, 55, of Houston, was convicted of Theft $1500 to $20,000 on April 2, 2013 by a Brazos County jury. The same jury sentenced Jones to 20 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Institutional Division one day later. Jones was arrested on May 26, 2011 after being caught on video stealing 12 rings from College Station Pawn. Employees of the Pawn Shop called College Station Police and Jones was stopped with the stolen rings minutes later. During punishment, the jury learned that the defendant had 13 prior felony convictions before handing down their sentence. After the jury was excused Judge J. D. Langley pronounced sentence and ordered the 20 years to be served consecutively with an 18 months State Jail Sentence that Jones was sentenced to early this year for a similar theft out of Harris County. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Brian Baker and Ekua Assabill. Please contact Brian Baker for any further information.
