Lime leaf is a plant has the potential for producing volatile under the trade name kaffir lime

oil. Kaffir lime leaves have been known by the public as a traditional medicine and for flavoring dishes, aim of the study was to determine the effect of variations in time and sample size in the steam distillation method and determine the compounds contained in the original lime leaves outstretched. The study divided the various stages of testing the insulation test with steam distillation, assay by GC-MS analysis and statistical tests variance (ANOVA). Samples of fresh kaffir lime leaves divided the two treatments in one piece and chopped, then distilled for 4 and 8 hours using steam distillation method. The yield of essential oil of kaffir lime leaves produced on leaves intact for 4 hours at 0.88095%, whole leaves 8 hours of 0.65482%, leaves chopped for 4 hours at 0.60075% and leaves chopped 8 hours of 0.55307% . The results of GC-MS analysis of compounds are the main content of the citronellal 39.65%, 10.15% diethyl carbitol, 6.72% -citronellol, sitronelil acetate 4.8%, 4% isopulegol. Levels of intact leaves citronellal obtained for 4 hours at 39.65%, whole leaves 8 hours for 28.33%. So that treatment time variation and magnitude of the best leaf samples contained in intact leaves 4 hours.
