What Is Greek Tragedy?
Greek tragedy is a form of theatre art from ancient Greece and other parts of the world . It reached its most significant form in Athens. Greek tragedy is an extension of the ancient rites done in honor of Dionysus the god of wine. And it also put a big impact on the world, such as the theatre of Ancient Rome and the Renaissance. The bases of tragic plots were often myths treated in the oral traditions. In tragic theatre, however these scripts were presented by actors. The most important authors of Greek tragedies are Aeschylus, Sophocles and Euripides.

Greek tragedy was performed as part of an estimated 5-day Athenian religious festival, which may have been instituted by the tyrant Peisistratus in the second half of the sixth century B.C.
