Dear Sir/Madam,

Having been Marissa Talvy's university supervisor for sixteen weeks has allowed me the opportunity to know this very special person.Marissa was a student teacherunder my supervision at Pleasant Valley Elementary School in Rockingham County, Virginia from August 27, 2012 until October 19, 2012 and Berkeley Glenn Elementary from October 15, 2012 until December 14, 2012.The grade levels were fifth and first respectively. It is indeed my pleasure to highly recommend this young lady for employment in your school division as a teacher. Marissaexhibits all the qualities of a skillful veteran teacher. Her knowledge of the subject matter is most apparent, but more than that, she is able to create exciting activities that apply the content in a meaningful, student-friendly manner. Marissa's lessons are documented with thoughtful planning that includes Bloom's Taxonomy, Marzano's Strategies, and Gardner's Multiple Intelligences. The lessons providestudent assessment and meet the needs of individual differences andabilities. Classroom behavior is managed quite well, and is evidenced by students changing activities and changing locations within the room while maintaining established behavioral standards. Procedures and outcomes are made clear to students and contentis presented accurately and effectively. A thoughtful variety of opportunities are provided for content application. Checking for understanding is monitored using bothformal and informal assessment techniques. The results are used toidentify students needing additional assistance. Instructional time is used effectively. Marissademonstrates personal and professional behaviors that promote student learning and she isacceptedby her colleagues. Marissa'senthusiasm for teaching is apparent as is her love for her students. Your professional consideration of Marissa Talvy is greatly appreciated. If you have additional questions, feel free to contact me at home at 540-943-4673 or by cell at 540-471-7699.
