Mercy Corps 45 SW Ankeny St. Portland, OR 97294 800-292-3355 www.mercycorps.org March 18, 2013 Nestl Waters North America 900 Long Ridge Road Building 2 Stamford, CT 06902 Dear Tim Brown, This past week, I witnessed firsthand the struggle that thousands of Syrian refugees face every day in Jordan. It was already hot at sunrise in the Jordan countryside as our team drove up to the water well in the Zaatari refugee camp. Though it was still early, the line stretched long. When I asked a woman at the end of the line how long she had been waiting, she told me that she had been in line since the previous day. This single small well was the only one in the camp, supporting nearly 100,000 people who had been forced to flee their homes. At Mercy Corp, we are raising money to expand our water programs in Jordan in order to provide livable conditions to displaced Syrian refugees. Jordan is the 4th most water scare country in the world. It will soon be unable to meet the water demands of the nearly 1 million Syrian refugees to whom it has provided a temporary home. We have a large fundraising goal for our Syrian Refugee Crisis Fund. I would appreciate it if you could help in reaching this target because Nestl Waters could be

a major catalyst for change in the region. We would like for your company to be one of the faces of hope for these battered and vulnerable refugees and for people around the world. Through our research, we have determined that cost of expanding our water programs in Jordan will be $150,000. Our existing water aid programs in Jordan have proven successful in expanding the water supply by 10-15 percent in several regions, and increased funding could make that number even greater. Help Mercy Corp provide water to Syrian refugees. Nestl Waters would become a major supporter for those affected by this crisis and become the ambassador to the world about this increasingly devastating problem. I will call tour office next Monday for an appointment to visit with you and discuss the possibility of a contribution. In the meantime, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions at 602-123-4567. I look forward to meeting with you and telling you about the difference that Mercy Corp can make in the lives of Syrian refugees. Sincerely, Neal Keny-Guyer
